Description

The pterion is a craniometric point found along the lateral aspect of the cranium. It is formed by the frontal, parietal, sphenoid and temporal bones and is located at the area of the temporal fossa where these four bones meet.

The pterion is the location site for the sphenoidal (anterolateral) fontanelle in infants.
