Description

The rami of mandible (mandibular rami) are the two vertical, quadrilateral, posterolaterally located parts of the mandible. Each ramus extends posterosuperiorly from the posterior ends of the body of the mandible and is continuous:

—anterosuperiorly with the coronoid process on its corresponding side;

—posterosuperiorly with the condylar process on its corresponding side.

Each ramus consists of medial and lateral surfaces, anterior and posterior borders, and an angle of the mandible. They are larger and wider in males than females.
