Description

The sphenoidal border (sphenoidal margin or anterior border) is the curved, beveled, anteriorly located margin of the squamous part of temporal bone. It is one of the two borders of the squamous part of temporal bone, the other being the parietal border.

The sphenoidal border:

—extends superolaterally from the anterior border of the petrous part to the parietal border of the squamous part of temporal bone;

—articulates with the squamosal margin of the greater wing of sphenoid bone, forming the sphenosquamous suture.
