Description

The superior tubercles are the small, superiorly projecting prominences found on the posterosuperior aspects of the superior articular processes of the twelfth thoracic vertebra. They are one of three pairs of tubercles found on the twelfth thoracic vertebra, the other two being the lateral and inferior tubercles.

The superior tubercles are the thoracic equivalents to the mammillary processes of the lumbar vertebrae.
