Description
The supramastoid crest is the ridge on the temporal surface of the squamous part of temporal bone. It is continuous anteriorly with the posterior root of the zygomatic process of temporal bone and extends posterosuperiorly towards the mastoid angle of the parietal bone.
The supramastoid crest:
—forms the superior boundary of the suprameatal triangle;
—forms the posteroinferior boundary of the temporal fossa;
—provides an attachment site for the temporal fascia.
