Description

The suprameatal triangle (suprameatal fovea, suprameatal pit, or Macewen’s triangle) is the shallow, triangular depression found along the temporal surface of the squamous part of temporal bone. It is located posterosuperior to the external acoustic meatus and its superior boundary is defined by the supramastoid crest.

In some individuals, a suprameatal spine may be present at the inferior angle of this triangle.
