Description
The supreme nuchal lines (highest nuchal lines) are the upper pair of curved, sometimes indistinct, ridges found along the external aspect of the squamous part of occipital bone. They extend superolaterally from the external occipital protuberance, curve across the nuchal plane, and travel towards the lateral angles of the occipital bone.
The supreme nuchal lines provide attachment sites for the epicranial aponeurosis. They are more pronounced in males than females.
