Description

The temporal lines are the two laterally located, curved ridges found along the external surface of the squamous part of frontal bone. On its corresponding side, each temporal line of frontal bone:

—extends superiorly from a zygomatic process of frontal bone and then curves in a posterosuperior direction towards the parietal margin;

—has a lower end that is continuous inferiorly with a temporal border of zygomatic bone;

—has an upper end that divides into superior and inferior portions, which are continuous with the superior and inferior temporal lines of the parietal bone, respectively;

—provides an attachment site for the temporal fascia;

—forms the anterosuperior boundary of a temporal fossa.
