Description

The temporal surfaces are the smooth areas found along the superolateral aspects of both the right and left greater wings of the sphenoid bone. On its corresponding side, each temporal surface:

—is separated from an inferiorly located infratemporal surface by an infratemporal crest;

—consists of the anteroinferior portion of a temporal fossa;

—provides an origin site for a temporalis muscle.
