The cortical sinusoids are one set of arteries that arise from the subcapsular arterial plexus. They form an established, convoluted network among the cortex, which ensures a rich arterial supply to the tissue. As the capillaries penetrate deeper, they begin to coalesce and form an arterial plexus deep within the zona reticularis and medullary tissue.
