Structure/Morphology
The external urethral orifice is the opening of the urethra on the body surface.
Key Features/Anatomical Relations
The external urethral orifice opens below the clitoris and just above the vaginal orifice. The external urethral orifice has slightly raised margins, which are highly distensible and vary in shape. The paraurethral glands (or Skene’s glands) open into the lateral margins of the urethra through paraurethral ducts.
Function
The external urethral orifice allows for urine to be discharged from the urethra.
