The medulla is the inner region of the ovary and is surrounded by the ovarian cortex.
Function
The medulla is continuous with the hilum of the ovary where the ovarian blood vessels, lymphatic vessels and nerves enter the ovary. This portion of the ovary does not contain ovarian follicles.
