Bei Ye is a materials scientist at Argonne national laboratory. She received her PhD in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011. Since then, she has been working on the development of low enriched uranium fuel to support the conversion of the remaining high-power research and test reactors in the world, using both modeling and experimental techniques.
She is currently the group leader of the Fuel Technology and Assessment group at Argonne. Her group works on a wide range of activities supporting nuclear fuel development and qualification, including multi-scale fuel performance modeling encompassing computation methods from the atomic scale to the engineering scale, heavy ion irradiation at the fission fragment energy level, microstructural characterization of irradiated materials, and thermal conductivity measurement at the micrometer level.
