Gil Garnier

Monash University, Australia

Gil Garnier is Director of the Bioresource Processing Research Institute of Australia (BioPRIA) and Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Monash University in Australia. He is also Director of the ARC transformation Hub- Processing Advanced Lignocellulosics (PALS). Previously, Gil was Team Leader at Kimberly-Clark (2000-2005) and Paprican Professor in Chemical Engineering, McGill University (1993-2000). His expertise is the application of (bio)polymers and Interfacial Engineering to develop biodiagnostics and design novel lignocellulosic materials. His research team aims at developing novel paper sensors and implementing biorefineries using the concepts of green chemistry and sustainable processes. Gil has supervised over 45 graduate students and is Co-Editor of the Journal of Colloids and Interface Sciences (JCIS) and Editorial board member of Carbohydrate polymers, Cellulose, Bioresource and Nordic Pulp and Paper Research Journal (NPPJ). He published over 250 articles and holds 17 patents, many of which used every day in Diagnostics, Family and Personal cares products all over the world.
