Talk Title: Mechanical Functions of Synthetic Cells

Prof. Kerstin Göpfrich has held a professorship at the Center for Molecular Biology of Heidelberg University (ZMBH) since 2022 and headed the Max Planck Research Group “Biophysical Engineering of Life” at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research since 2019. She is a Principal Investigator in the Cluster of Excellence “3D Matter Made to Order” and a Fellow of the Max Planck School “Matter to Life”.

Kerstin Göpfrich, whose research focuses on constructing synthetic cells using customised components, is the recipient of numerous awards, among them an ERC starting grant, a Gates Cambridge Fellowship, the Women Interactive Materials Award and the Hector Career Development Award.
