Talk Title: A novel mechanism of Spemann-Mangold dorsal organizer repression

Mary Mullins is a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. She received a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, studying P element transposition in Drosophila in the lab of Gerry Rubin.

Her postdoctoral work was at the Max Planck Institute in Tübingen, Germany, in the lab of Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard, where she performed a large-scale forward genetic screen in the zebrafish. Her lab is studying the molecular-genetic mechanisms by which a BMP signaling pathway patterns the vertebrate body plan and the role of maternal factors in embryonic development.
