Materials Chemistry and Catalysis (MCC), Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science, Utrecht University, The Netherlands

Petra de Jongh received her PhD in photoelectrochemistry, and worked at Philips Research Laboratories before joining Utrecht University in 2004. Building on ERC and other grants, she develops fundamental insights into structure-function relations for supported metal nanoparticles and nanoporous materials. She studies particle size, confinement and mesostructure effects on the functionality of these materials, also under relevant working conditions, resulting in more than 200 scientific papers. An important aspect is the design and development of new catalysts and batteries for a more sustainable future, often in collaboration with industrial partners.
