Advanced Topics in Biomaterials

Aim & scope

The Advanced Topics in Biomaterials series is a collaboration between Elsevier Inc. and the Society for Biomaterials. The series covers critical topics of interest to the biomaterials community, that reflect the latest advances in materials and related product, principles, design, and applications.

This series is largely inspired by the topics of interest addressed by the Society’s Special Interest Groups and themes highlighted in the Society’s annual meeting, including, but not limited to:

BioInterfaces Biomaterials and Medical Products Commercialization Biomaterial-Tissue Interaction Cardiovascular Biomaterials Dental/Craniofacial Biomaterials Drug Delivery Engineering Cells and Their Microenvironments Immune Engineering Nanomaterials Ophthalmic Biomaterials Orthopaedic Biomaterials Surface Characterization and Modification Tissue Engineering

Advanced Topics in Biomaterials cover

Volumes in the series are written by global experts in the field, and provide brief introductory coverage of the chosen topic, before reviewing recent research and advances. Practical considerations of biomaterials are emphasized in volumes in the series, including methods and protocols, as well as the use of case studies to help demonstrate applications.

Audience

The core target audience for this series is academics and researchers working on the development and applications of biomaterials, spanning the fields of materials science, biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical science, regenerative medicine, biochemical engineering, and similar, related disciplines.

Given the advanced content focus, the series is aimed upwards of postdoctoral level. The series will appeal primarily to academics but may also appeal to those working in industry, as well as clinicians.
