Professor Amanda Kenny

La Trobe University, Australia; Editor-in-Chief: Nurse Education Today

I am a nurse and midwife and Professor Emerita at La Trobe University, Australia and a Visiting Professor at the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom. I have the enormous privilege of leading a fantastic team as Editor-In-Chief of Nurse Education Today, the world’s most highly ranked nurse education journal. In my career, I have won excellence in teaching awards, have attracted almost AU$105 million dollars of funding, have published more than 220 peer-reviewed articles and reports, and have supervised so many fabulous higher degree students I have lost count. I have led or contributed to highly cited government and policy documents, and as an expert witness, have given evidence to major government inquiries.

I am a mother, grandmother, owner of two very spoilt dachshunds (who are completely in charge of me and my house), intrepid international traveller, a voracious reader of crime novels, podcast addict, gardener, passionate cook, coffee snob, lover of everything mid-century, frustrated wannabe architect, and Apple aficionado. I never go anywhere unless my Apple watch tells me to. My life is chaos. Amidst this chaos, I have managed to build a successful academic career and stay somewhat sane.
