Jianping Yu is a researcher at National Renewable Energy Laboratory, focusing on cyanobacteria photosynthesis, metabolism and engineering. Jianping has 30 years of experience in algae research, with a PhD degree in Plant Biology from Michigan State University. His lab works on genetic manipulation of energy, carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus metabolism in cyanobacteria, as well as algae bioprospecting, with potential application in biofuels such as SAF, bioproducts such as ethylene, biofertilizer such as ammonia, biomining for metals, and bioremediation via wastewater treatment.
