Shirley Fecteau

Shirley Fecteau is a Professor of Psychiatry and Neurosciences at Université Laval and CERVO Brain Research Centre. Her research aims at understanding human cognition using non-invasive neuromodulation (in particular transcranial magnetic and electrical stimulation) combined with neuroimaging (functional MRI, MR spectroscopy).

She earned a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from University of Montreal (2005). She trained as a postdoctoral fellow and instructor in Neurology at Harvard Medical School, supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Fonds de Recherche du Quebec – Sante (2005-2010). She then held the Canada Research Chair in Cognitive Neuroplasticity (2010-2020) at Université Laval.

She serves as Deputy Editor for Brain Stimulation, Elsevier since 2018.

She is a Faculty at the Harvard Continuing Medical Education Course in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation since 2005.

Her current work is mainly supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the New Frontiers in Research Fund.
