Talk: Legal and socialaspects of biotechnology towards circular bioeconomy

In Professor Tomasz Twardowski opinion, biotechnology is a pillar of bioeconomy and one of the top five modern technologies, next to telecommunications, nanotechnology, power engineering and new materials, which will determine the world economic development in the next several decades. Tomasz Twardowski is profesor [emeritus] at Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań, Poland. He has been active in the Polish Biotechnology Federation, of which he was president from 2003-2009. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific quarterly Biotechnologia from 1988 to 2010; vice-chairman of the Biotechnology Committee (1991-2009) and chairman of this Committee (2010 – 2019); in 2020 he was elected Honorary President of this Committee. He is heavily engaged in legal and social issues related to biotechnology, including intellectual property rights, biosafety and social acceptance.
