Research for a just transition

Elsevier Energy publishes research across disciplines–including engineering and the physical, natural, and social sciences–that advances clean energy transitions for all.

We foster transdisciplinary collaboration between researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to promote an equitable, community-led transition to net zero.

We believe in a cleaner, fairer, and more connected world. We highlight innovative, sustainable energy research; champion diversity of thought and the practice of inclusion; and create opportunities for the cross pollination of ideas.

Cleaner World

A cleaner, more sustainable world requires new, innovative thinking supported by rigorous energy research.

How has research from the Global South impacted the energy transition in the past five years? The “Pathways to Net Zero: The Impact of Clean Energy Research” explores how net zero research in the Global South is contributing to a clean energy future. The ambition of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 to tackle climate change requires a global effort. The Global South is likely to be disproportionally affected and has an important role to play in realizing this target.

Fairer World

Global problems require global solutions and that means diversity in thought, perspective, and approach.

Article digests summarise research articles from a selection of journals within Elsevier’s Energy portfolio in a clear and concise manner for wider usage, increasing their discoverability among the general public, media and non-specialists.

Connected World

Facilitating connections within and between disciplines, across regions, and at all career stages is key to interdisciplinary research that can help us achieve the sustainable development goals.

Open access lies at the core of Elsevier’s publishing mission – in fact, today, almost all of our journals offer open access options. That means finding the right open access home for your research is easy. Whatever route you choose, publishing with Elsevier means your work benefits from the input of expert editors and reviewers. And if you publish gold open access, it is immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download from ScienceDirect. Our gold OA titles also feature in major indexes and databases.
