Waste And The Environment: Underlying Burdens And Management Strategies

Aim & scope

Waste generation is not a new phenomenon, yet it continues to be one of humanity’s and the environment’s greatest challenge. Both the developing as well as developed countries share this burden. Despite global attention for better waste management, the impact is still felt because of its severe long-term environmental consequences. This book series will look at the various waste categories, such as municipal solid waste, industrial hazardous and non-hazardous waste, electronic waste, plastic waste, biomedical waste, and construction/demolition waste, as well as the underlying consequences and strategies for handling them for a healthy and sustainable environment.

This book series covers a wide range of topics related to the role of waste management procedures and technology in achieving a clean and healthy environment.

Waste And The Environment: Underlying Burdens And Management Strategies

Volumes of the book will examine all the aspects of the corresponding waste category through a global lens, including underlying burdens and management strategies, waste as a resource, minimization of waste, proper disposal, and well-organized systems to be looked after by effective policies of public interests. The main focus will be on the available technologies to treat and recycle each waste category; the harmless, effective treatment and disposal of hazardous and other waste types; the need for the engineered landfills and landfill mining’s development and maintenance; legal frameworks, policy implications, and the application of life-cycle assessment, cost-benefit analysis, and techno-economic feasibility studies.
