Introduction:

Natural gas hydrate is considered as a clean and potential energy resource due to the huge reserves and the abundant natural gas trapped in this resource. Therefore, hydrate research is attracting extensive attention from many governments, including China. Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is one of the research institutes leading the hydrate research in China, which started to study hydrate from 1990. Up to now, Key Laboratory of Gas Hydrate CAS, which was organized by Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, CAS, has developed the hydrate research in the fields of Engineering, Chemistry, and Geology. Here we present a special article collection highlighting the latest representative research in hydrate from the CAS (2016-2017).

With thanks to the Article Selection Editors:

Prof. Xiao-Sen Li Deputy director of Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion CAS, director of the Key Laboratory of Gas Hydrate CAS, has researched in hydrate for over 12 years and published over 180 papers on hydrate. He is selected as Elsevier Most Cited Chinese Researchers from 2014-2016.
