WARNING - SCAM ALERT: Exhibitor Housing Services (EHS) & Exhibitor Housing Management (EHM), Traveller Point (TP) and Travel Hosting Team (THT)
Elsevier has been made aware that third-party companies are targeting Elsevier conference speakers and attendees with a fraudulent travel and hotel booking scheme.
The companies are calling/emailing conference attendees, using email addresses which appear very similar to official Elsevier email addresses, and claiming to be the “official” housing bureau and/or authorized by Elsevier to book hotel/travel accommodations for the conference. This is entirely false and should anyone contact you, please do not provide them with any of your details, but refer this to Elsevier. If you are in any doubt about an email regarding the conference, please check this with a member of the organising team via: [email protected] opens in new tab/window
The main airport serving our west side of the island, closest to the hotel, is Kona International (KOA) (the airport was recently re-named the Ellison Onizuka International Airport). The other airport on the island is Hilo. There is also the option of flying into Honolulu International Airport (HNL) on Oahu first and then taking a short, 45-50 minute flight to the Big Island. There are daily direct flights into Kona International Airport. Major air carriers from the U.S., Japan and Canada fly directly into Kona. Direct flights are from: Anchorage (seasonal), Bellingham, Dallas Ft. Worth, Denver, Los Angeles, Oakland, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco, San Jose, Vancouver (seasonal), Haneda, and Narita. Some seasonal carriers also make the trip with charters.
All the major rental companies are found on the island of Hawaii. Rental car agencies are located at the Kona and Hilo International Airports as well as some resorts. Rental car companies are located just a short distance from both inter-island terminals. Taxis and other ground transportation are available curbside.
Hawaii County also offers free mass transit via the Hele On (Let’s Go) Bus. There are stops all around the island of Hawaii, with service between Kona and Hilo offered Monday through Saturday. All buses are wheelchair accessible, and it’s free to go anywhere on the island.
Directions from the Airport to the Waikoloa Beach Marriott
Depart the Airport – there is only one exit with a traffic light. Take a left at the traffic light onto Highway 19, called the Queen Kaahumanu Highway, or as locals refer to it, the Queen K”. You will be heading north along the Kona Coast on your way to Waikoloa. There are no other traffic lights that you will encounter until you reach the light and intersection that takes you to the Marriott. The street at the light is Waikoloa Beach Drive - turn left into the Waikoloa Beach Resort. Pass the Queens Shops on the left and continue until you arrive at the entrance to the Waikoloa Beach Marriott and Vacation Club.
