Professor Lily Kong is the fifth president of Singapore Management University (SMU) and the first Singaporean to lead the 23-year-old institution, and the first Singaporean woman to lead a university in Singapore. She is a social scientist with teaching and research awards to her name, nationally and internationally. Professor Kong has previously served as provost of SMU, vice-provost and vice-president of the National University of Singapore, and executive vice-president (academic) of Yale-NUS College
