Before having ExpertPath
Well, life before ExpertPath was a life of many books, I would say… Pathology is a speciality based on knowledge, a lot of knowledge, so every one of us owns a lot of books to look up everything that you need to check about diseases or use of the pathological images.
ExpertPath provides a situation where you don't need so many books anymore. I mean, books for in-depth studying are still required but there are a lot fewer books needed than before.
Benefits of ExpertPath
The most important benefit is that it is easier to use, in essence, it's the digitalized books that we already own or at least part of them, but being digitalized, there are now more options.
There's also normal histology, which is a great benefit to have available and there're very many beautiful photomicrographs available to check and study from. It's also auto-updated so you don't need to buy new versions of books, every few years and that's an additional benefit because it means we use less paper and less printing ink.
ExpertPath in day-to-day workflow
ExpertPath is very much used in our day to day workflow, especially for the residents: to quickly lookup a disease or use pathological photomicrographs. We have a good overview of the basics of the diseases bullet point by bullet point. That helps us a lot in day to day work because we're so busy and we don't have time for in-depth studying - only in the evenings.
What’s the primary reason that you would recommend ExpertPath?
It provides such a good overview of the complete spectrum of histopathology and the histopathological description and photos of diseases that we diagnose.
The second reason is that it is so easy to use which makes it a very handy program to have available to you in your day to day workflow.
