Demand for academic library resources is on the rise

Books deliver differentiated knowledge to aid problem-solving and inspire a deeper understanding of a field. Choose new titles from the subjects that best support your institution's educational and research needs.

Knowledge you can trust

Trusted information is difficult to recognize on the open web. Librarians are best placed to help users recognize the authority of sources and how using trusted information can positively impact their research, studies and scholarship.

With books available by subjects, you can select the most relevant resources for your researchers, educators and students and lead them toward teaching, learning and research success.

Outcomes improve when content intersects

Researchers, students and educators are faced with increasing amounts of content to read, make sense of and apply to their work and studies.

Data shows that when multiple sources, such as books and journals, are combined the outcomes improve — from improving understanding and advancing scholarship, to generating greater research impact. In fact, 90% of users we surveyed* reported benefiting from using books and journals in the same literature search:

  • 34% of book visits on ScienceDirect also include journal visits

  • 15% of research on ScienceDirect achieves a higher Field Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) when an article references a book

  • 6x increase in journal usage at institutions that subscribe to Books on ScienceDirect when compared to those that don't
